Historical Background

Legacy of Justice in Bikaner

Bikaner historically had its own High Court established in 1922. Following the merger of Bikaner State into Rajasthan, a Circuit Bench of the Rajasthan High Court continued functioning at Bikaner until February 1950. The Bar Association, Bikaner has consistently advocated for restoration of judicial accessibility and continues the movement for establishment of a permanent High Court Bench.

Historic High Court established at Bikaner.

1950

Circuit Bench of Rajasthan High Court ceased functioning at Bikaner.

2009

Advocates observed a historic 125-day strike demanding establishment of a High Court Bench.
